The Swim & Dive team placed 5th in the ISL Championship last week hosted by The Madeira School and Stone Ridge School. The team came ready to compete as 96% of the swimmers swam their fastest times of the season. “This was a hard-fought meet with many great swims. The team came together to cheer and support each other,” said Head Swim Coach, Rod Montrie.
Madeira consistently hung with the middle of the pack for most of the meet, until the final two freestyle relays. The 200-yard freestyle relay team with Niki C. ’22, Libby W. ‘23, Shelby E. ’25, and Kayla S. ’25 placed 4th in the event with a time of 1:46:29, giving Madeira an edge to gain on the competition. Heading into the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, Madeira sat in 7th place. The team of Coleen D. ‘25, Ella T. ‘23, Claire R. ‘24, and Niki C. ’22 placed 5th with a time of 3:59:44, which secured Madeira 5th place in the competition.
Congratulations to our swimmers and divers for their effort and resilience!
