The Madeira Dive team placed three divers in the top 10 out of a field of 45 at the VISAA Swimming & Diving Championship this weekend.
The Snails had a spectacular showing at the VISAA Swimming & Diving Championship in Chantilly, Virginia. The state team of four, Molly E. ’22, Alanna K. ’22, Eliza H. ’23, and Sage W. ’23 dove beautifully and consistently throughout the competition. In a large field, the Snails remained steady of the board and executed each of their 11 dives.
With a start list of 45 divers, the event was cut down to 37 divers after the 3rd round of dives, (all 4 Madeira divers made this cut); cut down to 20 divers after the 5th round of dives and cut to the final 16 finalists after the 8th round of dives. Three of Madeira’s divers made it to finals.

The impressive show-out earned the Swim & Dive team 30 of the 44 points scored at States. “I couldn’t be prouder of how the team dove today” said head dive coach, Catherine Wentz. “They each focused on their own dives and did them to the best of their ability”.
