Camp Greenway has been the summer home for campers in rising K-10th grade since 1973. As a traditional, co-educational day camp, Camp Greenway offers community like no other. Boys and girls in rising K-10th grade are invited to come run, play, and create while embracing tradition at Camp Greenway.

COVID-19 Health and Wellness Policies 

Madeira Camps value the health and safety of all campers and employees. As the Madeira School continues to navigate the impacts of COVID-19, we continue to update our protocols and practices. We are not requiring vaccination against COVID-19 for Summer 2024.

Any camper who tests positive for COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days regardless of symptoms. Day 0 is the day testing. So long as their symptoms are dissipating and they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours, campers can return to camp on Day 6. However, we advise wearing a mask when inside through Day 10. If you test negative but are still experiencing COVID-like symptoms, monitor symptoms and retest in 48 hours. 

Camper Attendance and Care of Mildly Ill Campers

• A team of healthcare professionals staff the camp health center. Staff are responsible for reporting any sign of illness or injury to the health team, who assess each situation, and may administer over-the-counter medications if authorized by the caregiver. 
• A camper requiring any form of antibiotic treatment must refrain from attending camp for the first 24 hours of this treatment. We reserve the right to require a note from your camper's healthcare provider indicating they are no longer contagious prior to your camper's return to camp. 
• Should it be determined that a mildly ill or injured camper should be picked up, a caregiver must pick up their camper within one hour of a phone call home. 
• Madeira Camps do not offer refunds based on missed days from illness. 

Medications

• If your child has been prescribed medication that they will need to bring onto the Madeira camps, parents must complete the appropriate Madeira Medication Authorization Form. This includes life-saving medication such as inhalers and epi-pens.
• If a child needs over-the-counter medications at camp, parents must complete the Madeira Over the Counter Medication Authorization Form. 
• All prescriptions must come to camp in the original pharmacy container, with the current prescribing label attached. Expired medication will not be accepted. 
• All medications must be prescribed in the USA by a prescriber licensed in the US and must comply with USA regulations. 
• The Madeira Health Center has a supple of over-the-counter medications: Acetaminophen (Tylenol), Ibuprofen (Advil), Diphenhydramine (Benadryl), and Antibiotic ointment (Neosporin). If it is determined that a camper can take these medications, an over-the-counter authorization form will need to be completed. See the over-the-counter medication guidelines above. 
• No camper may carry, keep, or administer for themselves or any other camper any prescription or over-the-counter medication. All medications will be kept at the Health and Wellness Center and/or another approved location. 

Campers with Special Needs

• We make every attempt to offer summer camp opportunities to all campers. We can accommodate most special needs and dietary restrictions. Email [email protected] and a Summer Programs staff member will schedule a call to discuss how we can make your campers' experience exciting, appropriate, and fulfilling. 
• The information you share with us will be held confidential and shared in accordance with your wishes.

Camp Program Fees 

• A per-camper, per-session deposit is required to secure your spot at camp. Deposit amounts vary by camp (generally 20% of the full cost of camp enrollment) and are applied towards the final camp balance.  
• Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable at point of sale for all programs. Please check camp dates against other obligations and vacations before registering your camper. 
• Full payment is due on May 15th. Before this date, refund requests will be refunded the full cost of registration minus the deposits and administrative fees. Madeira Camps offer a variety of payment options to help finance your campers’ summer experience.  
• Between May 15th through May 31st, any refund requests will be refunded at 50% the cost of registration. The full cost of registration is non-refundable after May 31st for any reason. 
• If Madeira Camps does not receive your complete payment on the specified date (May 15th), your space at camp will be forfeit.  
• Families who register after May 15th are required to pay in full at the time of registration.  

Administrative Fees 

• A one-time, $25, per-camper administrative fee is applied at registration. This fee is non-refundable in the event of cancellation or withdrawal by the caregiver or the Madeira School.  

Madeira Camps are an inclusive community where individual differences are valued, where people are supported in reaching their goals and accomplishing challenges, and where everyone can have fun. Creating such a community requires the commitment of all participants including staff, caregivers, and campers. We ask everyone to agree to the behavior expectations listed below. If families (caregivers and campers) are unable to abide by the behavior expectations listed below, the Madeira School reserves the right to terminate the relationship.  

Campers and caregivers should review and discuss these guidelines together.  

I Will Show Respect for Others 

• I will respect other people’s ideas and values, even if they are different from my own.  
• All my actions and language will have a positive impact on others in the Madeira Camps community.  
• I understand that any behavior that could harm (physically or emotionally) or is disrespectful to a camper, staff member, or caregiver is unacceptable in the Madeira Camps community.  

I Will Show Respect for Myself 

• I will take care of myself by drinking lots of water, washing my hands often, using sunscreen and insect repellant when needed, telling an adult or staff member if I am hurt or unwell, and sharing with an adult or staff member if I am having problems at camp.  
• I will make the most of my opportunities at Madeira Camps by participating fully in camp activities. I will try new things and have a positive attitude.  
• I will not allow exclusive relationships (like those with friends from home or school) to prevent me from getting to know other people at camp, or from including others in activities.  
• I will stay with a buddy when moving around camp and always ask a staff member before leaving the group.  

I Will Show Respect for Everyone’s Health and Safety 

• I understand that the possession and use of recreational drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, or weapons of any kind at camp is prohibited. I will not have and/or use these at camp.  
• I understand that weapons of any kind including fireworks, firearms, and pocketknives are not allowed. I will not bring these to or use these at camp.  
• I will abide by all safety standards explained by the staff.  
• I understand that physical and emotional bullying or violence may result in my immediate dismissal from camp. If I am dismissed from camp, my tuition is forfeited, and my caregiver is responsible for picking me up immediately. My behavior at camp will not include violence or bullying. 
• Behavior that discriminates against a group or groups of people is prohibited at Madeira Camps. I will not discriminate against or harass anyone (camper, staff, or caregiver) while at camp.  

I Will Show Respect for Camp 

• I understand that all community members are expected to share responsibility for keeping personal and community areas neat and clean, and I will help with these tasks.  
• I will take care of Madeira Camps' facilities, program supplies, and equipment. I will put equipment away when I finish using it and will leave any area that I use better than I found it.  
• I will not bring my cell phone, music player, video games, radio, or other electronics to camp, because they tract from enjoyment of and interaction with others and with the natural world. If I bring a smart watch to camp, I agree to refrain from using it unless there is an emergency. I understand that if I bring electronic devices to camp, they may be confiscated for the day and returned before I go home.  

If a camper has difficulty following Madeira Camps' behavior expectations, Madeira Camps staff will: 

• Remind the camper of expected behavior
• Review the Behavior Agreement above 
• Discuss ways staff members can support the camper in making necessary behavior improvements.  

If a pattern of inappropriate behavior continues, Madeira Camps staff will work with the camper to set specific, appropriate behavior goals and outline consequences for continued inappropriate behavior. Madeira Camps staff may ask caregivers for suggestions to help improve behavior. Madeira Camps, in conjunction with caregivers, will try to help campers adjust to the behavior expectations at camp. If a camper is unable to meet these expectations for any reason, the camper may be dismissed from camp and all camp fees will be forfeited.  

Continued inappropriate behavior or severely inappropriate behavior (such as physical or emotional violence, bullying, racism, sexual harassment, or possession of prohibited items) will result in immediate dismissal from camp and forfeiture of camp fees.  

Refunds on Program Fees 

• All per-camper, per-program deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable at point of sale.  
• Refunds for any camp program fees paid beyond the deposit(s) may only be issued when written notice of cancellation and a request for a refund is received before May 15th. Between May 15th and May 31st, 50% of the full cost of registration will be refunded. No refunds will be issued after May 31st.  
• Refund requests that come after May 31st for any reason, will not be honored. Madeira Camps does not issue rollover credits to the next season and families will forfeit all fees paid towards their program.  
• Refund requests for Extended Day services must be submitted in writing at least one week prior to the start of the camp session in question.  
• Administrative fees are non-refundable.  

Cancellations Due to Medical or Emergency Circumstances 

• In some cases, refunds may be granted after the May 31st cancellation and refund period for medical or emergency circumstances only. A written notice of cancellation with an explanation of the medical or emergency circumstances must be provided for a refund request to be considered.  
• Additional documentation may be requested by the Madeira School. Partial refunds will be at the discretion of the Madeira School after reviewing the request. 

Inclement Weather 

• High ropes and water activities may be cancelled when weather conditions are unstable (including dangerously high heat and dangerous air quality). Alternative activities will be provided. Refunds are not given when activities are cancelled due to inclement weather.  

Program Cancellation 

• If any camp or session is cancelled by the Madeira School, for any reason, a full refund will be issued on all camp program fees including the non-refundable deposit. The camp administrative fee is non-refundable.  
• If a program is cancelled for any reason (including, but not limited to, insufficient enrollment and staffing issues), every effort will be made to place campers in a similar program. Programs are any choice within a camp (theme choice, age group, etc.).
