Congratulations on your acceptance to Madeira! Below are some helpful links and a timeline to guide you and your family through the enrollment and registration process.

- Consider Transportation options & sign up by May 1
- Madeira offers a bus/van transportation program that allows us to serve students throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area. Transportation route options for the upcoming school year can be found on the Transportation Program page of our website. Space is limited. Sign up here.
- Email us your photo for the New Student Directory
- As a new Madeira student, you'll want to make sure your "headshot" is included in our New Student Directory - it's really helpful for figuring out who is who as you make new friends!
April
- Print out the New Families Checklist
- Submit signed enrollment agreement & pay deposit
- Boarding student enrollment agreements and deposits are due April 10
- International Students: Submit documentation for I-20 form
- Madeira will provide an I-20 form for enrolled international students who need to apply for an F-1 student visa to enter the United States. We will contact you after enrollment to receive the required documentation (passport and bank statement copies).
- I-20 forms will be emailed to parents within three weeks of receipt of the required documentation. Contact Katie Fotofili with any questions at (+1) 703-556-8325 or [email protected].
- Set up your Madeira network accounts
- You will receive a series of emails from the IT department with instructions on how to set up your Madeira email account and Canvas Learning account. It is very important that you complete these tasks in a timely manner because important emails such as placement test information and roommate questionnaires will be sent to your Madeira email account.
- We are a "Bring Your Own Device" school - please review our device requirements.
- Begin your Academic Registration process and make an appointment to meet with our Academic Dean
- Your family will receive an email from the Academic Office with details about this multi-step process. View the 2024-25 Course Catalog.
- Take placement tests in Canvas in early May
- Language and Math placement tests are completed online through Canvas in early May. There is no need to prepare in advance for the placement tests.

- Submit D Block Agreement - Available in the Student/Parent Portal.
- Update/confirm contact information in your profile in the Student/Parent Portal
- As new Madeira parents, you'll have access to student/parent and faculty directories in the Parent Portal. Please review all of your family's (and your student's) contact information for accuracy.

- Complete Transportation Sign Up prior to May 1 deadline
- Take placement tests in Canvas between May 1-8
- Language and Math placement tests are completed online through Canvas between May 1-8. There is no need to prepare in advance for the placement tests.
- The placement test link was emailed by the Academic Office - please see the Spring & Summer Communications page in case you missed it.
- Schedule physical, access health & wellness forms & emergency departure plan forms
- Madeira requires all students to submit health & wellness forms (including a completed physical form) by July 1 unless otherwise specified. Additionally, boarding students are required to submit an emergency departure plan form. All forms for 2024 will be updated in June and available in the Magnus Health Portal. Look out for communication from the Health and Wellness Center.
- Submit Records Release Form to current school - due by August 15
- Madeira's School Records Coordinator must receive a copy of your student's final transcript and test scores for the 2023-24 school year from their current school.
- International Students: Receive I-20 form from Admissions Office
- International families who have submitted the required documents will receive their I-20 form via email from the Admissions Office by mid-May. Students will need this to apply for their F-1 visa.
- Volunteer to assist international students
- Our international students bring unique experiences and perspectives to Madeira’s classrooms and advance our global understanding. We want to ensure we are doing our utmost to welcome them into our community and set them up for success. Local Madeira families can volunteer in numerous ways, big and small. If you are interested in learning more, please fill out our Expression of Interest Form.
June
- Complete Impact Testing for students intending to play a Fall sport
- Look out for communication from the Athletics Department in June with further details.
- Order Fall Athletics Apparel between July 1 - July 15
- Students participating in a Fall sport are required to order gear through the team stores prior to the July 15 deadline. Look out for communication from the Athletics Department with links and additional information.
- Submit Health & Wellness Forms & Emergency Departure Plan Forms prior to July 1 deadline
- Complete Arrival Forms & Surveys sent by Dean of Student Life and Culture Office
- Find Madeira Neighbors (for Carpooling)
July
- Order Fall Athletics Apparel between July 1 - July 15
- Students participating in a Fall sport are required to order gear through the team stores prior to the July 15 deadline. Team stores will be closed after July 15. Look out for communication from the Athletics Department.
- Order books and supplies for fall classes once schedules are posted
- Book Ordering Information and Supplies List available on Canvas.
- Requests for schedule adjustments (including D block changes) must be made by August 9
- Email us your photo for the New Student Directory
August
- Review the Student/Parent Handbook (available in the Portal)
- Parents and students are expected to review the handbook annually.
- Review your schedule in the Student/Parent Portal
- Requests for schedule adjustments (including D block changes) must be made by August 9
- Ensure final transcript has been submitted to Madeira's School Records Coordinator by August 15
- Attend Preseason, Tryouts & Orientation!
